I installed a later 489 case Sure Grip w/ 3.23 gears into my 300F without any issues, so yes, no problem!

Its been said that any Mopar 8-3/4" is usually stronger then the
Gm units of the same time frame. And plenty strong compared to the
Ford 9".

Now, It is possible to install a later center section in the old tapered
axle applications, its been done before. Just find a good
shop!
