Over the years there have been several approaches to doing just that,
isolate the carb from the mannyfold heat. some metal heat shields, some
low thermal transfer 'resin' spacers, some a combination of both.
Goots luckys. my need for such a critter was sold last week. Now if I 
find the uninstalled item I bought for that use surfaces in the garage
I'll have a reason to revisit 'FrankentTruck'.
