Re: [Chrysler300] Re: Wilcox Hurst

Jerry is out running some errands at the moment, but I called and chatted with Shirley a half hour ago. Both their bodies and their spirits are going through a challenging recovery process now, and Jerry is wrangling with the insurance company.

I mentioned to Shirley that they would likely be offered the opportunity to buy the salvage after the payout by the insurance company. She seemed unaware of how that all works, but said she would bring it up with Jerry. I think it might cost $1000 or so to get it flat-bedded up to Michigan, but if they could buy the salvage for, say, $500, they would still likely come out like a bandit in selling off the drivetrain, interior, left side body panels, etc., etc. - if he feels like messing with it.

Maybe I'll try to catch Jerry later to see how his negotiations are going, and what he's thinking.

Does anybody know of another Hurst fan closer to Bentonville who might be interested in buying the salvage from Jerry? Ms. Moon, who's got a Hurst registered with our club out in those hinterlands?

Can someone close to the Wilcox's try to help and keep the car from being sent to the scrap yard?
It is sitting somewhere and likely to be bought for salvage or scrapped when the insurance company settles.
Bigger loss for them and the limited number of surviving Hursts, not to mention the special parts involved.
Glad they are alright, sorry for the terrible end to a great weekend for them.

FYI  Looks really awful for Jerry and Shirley.  He was mentally diminished at the meet Allan and I thought.  It sounds like a TIA.

Hello,

Barb just talked to Shirley Wilcox and did not get a good report about their accident.

According to what I now understand Jerry went off the road and hit a tree.  Shirley has a broken nose and is her face is pretty banged up.

Jerry was shaken up but not badly hurt.  Another driver right behind them summoned help and Shirley and Jerry went for emergency care.

According to Shirley and Barb the Wilcox Hurst is totaled.  Jerry and Shirley rented a car and are now back home.

I know they would appreciate a card.

Although I was a little reluctant to report this info, since I did not hear it directly, I thought you should know.  If someone else has talked to Jerry or Shirley, there may be additional info to report or maybe some help we could offer.

I just called. Rogers police - no incident in town. AR State Police - the young lady I spoke with confirmed a collision on Hwy 62, and said that the Wilcox's are ok. No serious injuries or fatalities.

Hi Carl,

Thanks! Good trip home. John also just texted that he also made it home with no issues.
Unfortunately, not so for the Wilcox's and their Hurst. Spanky called me later morning, as we were rolling into St Louis, and said he saw their Hurst on a flatbed with the right front fender and headlight destroyed. Said the fender was pushed up about 6-8". Don't know anything more yet. I called Ray, and he thought they had only broken down, so he knew nothing more. I also called Michael Burke, and he heard the accident occurred east of Rogers, per Spanky, with the car being towed at 8:30 a.m. I think they headed out before John, Mark and I did at about 6:40 a.m.
