Thanks for your perspective, Ray. It reminds me of the commercial with the woman putting the pictures on her “wall”, and the saying “That’s not how any of
this works”. In this day/age, anyway. I get enough emails every day. I can browse for items of interest when I take the time to do so on the other sites I frequent, without having mail pop up in my inbox.
My intent is to be constructive, while being grateful for the vast knowledge on tap. There is a more effective way to do what the group is doing, which is
why so many other user forums have migrated to a different approach. If there is preference for organizational stasis in this regard, that is the right of those who do the work, and for those who choose to continue in with outmoded technology to do so.
I understand that there is comfort in the familiar. However, there is a more viable, robust option. I willfully choose old technology when it comes to my
vehicles (I also have a ’66 New Yorker), but I selectively allow sensible nods to technology (modern tires, front discs and electronic ignition in my ’66) to enhance my experience and safety.
Thank you for hearing my opinion, and I give my thanks and respect for those who participate in this group. Cheers- Hugh Baldus The Baldus Company

"I also think it would be a great way to selectively “subscribe” to conversations that are of interest without broadcasting to those who do not wish to see that traffic" How do you know what is of interest? You do NOT know from one day/week what your car will need, what you suddenly discover or decide to fix, repair or replace on your car, so,
how do you know what you might be interested in. We do have archives, you can look up things there that may interest you. emails have subjects, delete those of no interest to you. Such as the latest thread on Ethanol. Not interested? Delete. Move on to the next email, all told how much time does it cost you? 1 minute? 2-3 minutes? Wow, where did the day go? Hi there,
Relative newbie here, just picked up my 300K last year. I have participated in the past in other groups/forums on interactive server bulletin boards, such as for Alfa Romeo (http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/
), C-Bodies Only (http://www.forcbodiesonly.com/ ) and Miata (http://forum.miata.net/vb/).
Having become accustomed to such, I find the “List Server” approach to be unwieldy. Having dozens of emails a week, a few pertaining to my interests but many more not, becomes burdensome to me. Has anyone from the group examined what it would take to transform
the interface to one like the examples given? Please don’t misunderstand my intent, I love the depth of knowledge and insight that is available, but would like to go to a site and pursue the subjects of my choosing, rather than be force-fed a bulky mass of
emails every day.
I also think it would be a great way to selectively “subscribe” to conversations that are of interest without broadcasting to those who do not wish to see that traffic. If it requires an initial investment, I would be willing to participate in an assessment
to get it off of the ground.
There could be tabs for pictures of our cars, classifieds, contact information, event updates, vendor links, etc., which I think would concentrate and enliven our interaction.
Thoughts? Thanks for your attention-
