[Chrysler300] 300C trunk interior colors?

We have finished repairing some rust damage in the trunk in my 1957
300C convertible, and have applied peel-and-stick sound/vibration
damping material (like DynaMat) to the trunk floor, the inner fender
panels and the wheel well "humps", and overcoated that aluminum-faced
material with black rubberized undercoating material. When finished,
the floor will of course be covered by the carpet, and the sidewalls
will be covered by the gray cardboard panels, but I seem to recall that
the aft parts of the wheel well humps were quite visible past the
cardboard panels, and I am now questioning what those visible surfaces
should look like. I seem to recall that those areas were body color (in
this case, Gauguin Red), albeit pretty discolored and brownish with age
and dirt. Does anyone know what the factory did with those surfaces?
Should I spray body color over those (mostly hidden) trunk interior
surfaces, or should I leave them black to make them somewhat "disappear"?
