With the GM failures in the news, I got to thinking recently about the ignition switch assembly used in our Letter Cars. I don't recall much discussion, if any, on the list or in the newsletters for that matter, about them. The one in my 300G is original to the car, and I've never had any issues with it. Specifically, has anyone had theirs fail, and if so, what was the failure mode? Did it cause an unsafe condition that could lead to a fire or otherwise cause damage? Was a new switch available, and if so, from where was it sourced? I realize the key and tumbler is separate from the switch itself, so my concern is focused on the current carrying switch itself. They seem to be very reliable components, but is there a reason to replace the switch as a preventative safety measure?
