RE: [Chrysler300] re 300C convertible on epay

To add to what Dave said, it's worth mentioning that there are "several" (don't know exactly how many but at least one and rumored to be more) known fake 300G converts out there.  There was a guy converting New Yorkers to 300Gs.  In fact, I believe the guy went to prison as a result of the fraud.  I also understand he was transferring VIN plates in certain cars.  I do know I got a call one time about 8 or 10 years ago about a "300G" convert a fellow was interested in buying that had a VIN that started with 83 instead of 84, which means it didn't come from the factory as a 300G.  I believe the New Yorkers VIN starts with 83.  This was back when John Hertog was still around and he and I discussed the car and he shared some details with me on the guy and the car(s).

Ya ought to write him back and tell him just how many other cars it”COULD’ be

For instance, any Chrysler convertible built in 1957 with a 300 front clip.

The only sheet metal special to the 300’a that year was the front clip including the hood & grill. For cryin’loud!

But of course then, most all of us know that already

WOW>>>>What a jerk!

Sounds like a real “expert”

Here's the reply that I got from the (arrogant) seller re that 300C convertible on epay. Fern

Dear 300radio,

Actually, that's not so. We sold 478 classic cars last year and didn't disclose the VIN on any of them. Moreover, only an amateur would look to "authenticate" a 300C Convertible with a VIN. As the pictures clearly reveal, it can't be anything but that. What model are you suspecting it is? A Saratoga with the top chopped off? A 57 Chevy with Chrysler body panels?

Dear rkmotorscharlotte,

Only a fool would bid on a car that does not disclose the vin #. The vin # is a must to authenticate the car.
