At least the “300H” is from the auction of the cars from Gandy’s collection of cars in Redding California last October. I went out to California in October and went to see the cars as part of it. The 300 H has the same license plate as in my photos of it, i.e. XKK 288. The 2 dr NY’er likewise looks identical to the one from that collection. There were similar Cadillacs as part of the collection but since I’d rather walk than drive a GM product I ignored them. I don’t remember there being a Charger in the group. This internet auction was advertised on Hemmings at the time.
It took me back nearly 40 years when I and my fiancé (now my wife) would make a date of going to a wrecking yard looking for parts for one of my Chrysler products. When I started to look at Gandy’s collection first I wanted to cry, then I wanted to slap Gandy. He had bought all these cars and then just left them in a field. Many of the windshields, windows had been broken out by vandals and the rain let in for years. Needless to say, but many of these cars could have been valuable but the elements destroyed them.
I was interested in the ’61 2 dr NY’er but the inside looked like it had been soaked in water and then put through a blender. Rust through at the bottom of the panels. Gandy had the replacement grille for the vehicle and I bought that for $45, excellent condition (stored inside). The catalog misidentified it as a “mid 50’s Chrysler grille”. I saw no replacement body parts though. I have some photos of these cars but I understand I can’t post them here.

Who knows what could have been done to this car over 50-plus years. Other things I noticed are the absence of rear bumper guards, and why does it have Newport fenders? And where's the second carb? Can't tell if the steering wheel is clear like the NY & the H. I suppose only the VIN will tell the story if that hasn't been tampered with.
The ad also states that the 61 New Yorker sedan only had production of 593 cars. I find that hard to believe. And the 61 New Yorker 2-door hardtop, well it looks like it's missing its quarter panel gills and front fender trim. Oh, well, not my problem.
But maybe there's some gold nuggets hidden in these cars judging by the prices. Good luck, Bob, whoever you are.
I agree Chris, I see no evidence to indicate it was an H.
One clue wojuld be if it had a 300 emblem on the glove box.
Ian Smale in BC owns (or owned?) a 62 300 which has most of the 300H features as I recall except for the bucket seats.
I think he told me that he discovered
you could option up a 300 to almost if not all the H level.
Perhaps an expert here could clarify that. If you had three kids for instance,
an H wouldn't work for you, but an H with 300 seats would.
Could it have been a 300H with dealer delete bucket seats?
At one time, in our local car show,which was 300 oriented, we had some corporate Chrysler people attend with some fairly unusual personal cars. One once told me that
if it could be done, with connections, there woujd usually be a way to order a car with different than normal stock options.
But here.s better theory: Somebody had a 300H and due to the brakes rear ended another car, and being written off. Somewhere else, a 300 got rear ended and needed a trunklid.
After careful examination of the pictures, the 1962 Chrysler 300 wearing the H emblem on the trunk lid clearly has a "sport" front seat with center arm rest and a window crank for the passenger quarter window. The only thing H about that car is the trunk lid trim. "Show's over, move along..."

One of the pics show a pretty rough 1962 300, and an "H" is apparent in the rear shot of the car. I couldn't conclusively identify it as a Letter Car from the pic.
