Or possibly the other way around: that 2260876 was the entire
assembly, but 2260877 was stamped on the back for just the “shell” without the
center emblem?

Gil et. al. - I seem to recall that Bob Merritt and I had some email
exchange on this a year or two ago and what I discovered at that time was that,
in 1961 at least, the wheel cover (shell), the center medallion and the retainer
all had separate part numbers in the manual, where the “shell” was part number
2260876 . But Chrysler probably offered the complete, assembled wheel
cover as a “package” and possibly 2260877 was the part number for the
“ready to install” wheel cover and stamped as such on the backside. But we
could not confirm that as a fact.
