Need press and experience to do right, easy to break off tab brush is on, on some of these; have about 4 like that, useless now. Maybe front half casting with rotor and pulley intact might swap. Do not know, but better to just rebuild one at auto electric shop . Difference between 35 and 39A is not significant? Summit or rock auto is another way.. given value of your time...some hi po rebuilds have ~ 60A in that case. They would swap out the ends cheaply, or install a new bearing, which is not very much to start with. They could also check it out and maybe upgrade it for a reasonable price. Saving money is important but sometimes it gets in the way of a good repair. I only need a single pully, but at the time I purchased it (10+ years ago), I think the dual pully was a higher amp unit since the dual pully was intended for AC cars. There is a noise coming from the bearing. I have an extra older single pully alternator and I don't know it's working condition. Do I need to use a press to remove the defective bearing or is it a simple change to take the old bearing out of the one alternator and put it in the other one? Is it possible to swap the dual pully for the single pully by taking the two units apart? Since my convertible does not have AC, the single pully would look correct. According to the service manual, the standard alternator was rated at 34.5 and the upgraded alternator (both single and dual pully) was rated at 39 amps.
