Re: [Junk released by Allow List] Re: [Chrysler300] I don't need alcohol to be happy

Re. Ethanol Gas, There would be a messy but
effective method of removing the Ethanol from
pump gas. When checking the amount of Alcohol in
the gas you can use a 100 ml. Flask filled with
90 ml. mix then add 10 ml. of water. The water is
miscible with the Alcohol and will form a
distinct cloudy layer in the bottom of the flask
or about 10 ml. of mixture. the remaining 90 ml
of fluid in the top of the flask is regular gas.
Has anyone thought of doing this in a larger
scale such as a 5-10 gal. clear wine flask or
something similar. The process would be the same
with the only drawback being disposing of the
Alcohol/water mix at the bottom after carefully
siphoning off the straight gas from the top of
the bottle. Time consuming, possibly dangerous
and messy to be sure and the Gas Police may have
some negative thoughts, but it would beat having
to use the present Ethanol mix for a non-intended use in the old cars.

"I'm only kidding", but it would work. Your
spouse may have some concerns about using the
bottle for home made wine in the future.

I do know that the straight gas is piped to
storage facilities around the state and then the
Ethanol is added at the tanks (there is a storage
facility about 1 mile from my place). The Ethanol
is not shipped from the refinery, only added
later from a distiller supply made in another
plant. We have three Ethanol plants within 20
miles of my place that produce quite a volume of the stuff every year.

John Holst, Iowa 300K that has access to straight
gas nearly everywhere (fortunately).
