I can read a map and plan a trip!
Have managed over 4,000,000 miles w/o it!
Got all this fancy stuff on Carolyns '08 Hemi C and also my '11 Laramie
Longhorn
Never used any of it. Can't read the screen in the daylight anyway.

Seems a little silly to me. Rarely looked at, usually you follow the voice
prompts.
My unit mounts on the windshield, but I have it low down near the dash.
>From my point of view, it covers mostly the wipers and little bit of the
hood I can see.
The little bit of road area it would cover, is so close to the car as to be
of no matter.
The main reason it's on the windshield is to expose the antenna more and to
amplify it's speaker.
It's rarely mounted, just used on trips.
