Thanks for the help everyone. I have attached a photo of my battery from February 1958. The car was only a few weeks old when this was taken, although it was covered in dirt from a day of dry lake racing. It has ribs on the side, which should make it easier to identify. I'll start looking for old battery catalogs to see what it matches. Probably a Willard as mentioned earlier.
