Hi Guys, A couple of years ago I put a rechomed front bumper on my 300E convertible. In the process I found my car was missing one of the outter bumper brackets. No problem, as I have a couple of C bumpers w/ brackets. Stop. The outer brackets on the E are unique to that car. So as I remember (??) the C brackets won't even mount to the E frame but I can't remember for sure. Sounds to me like they (chrysler) played a lot of games with the revolving model names and price points....!? Is there a source in print which actually denotes the models and all of the individual specifications. There are even, 'rumors' of sorts, that many engine components were interchangeable between the different marks and models and block dimensions. Not unlike Chevrollettte strokers?! Have you ever seen a 61 Polara with a Chrysler front clip? Stunning! Good questions. The Unibody construction for all Plymouth, Dodge, Desoto and Chrysler cars (except Imperial) appeared in 1960. The basic frame appears to be the same except for various crossmember configurations to suit the needs of each model car. According to the original shop manuals I have: The 1956 Windsor Deluxe and New Yorker Deluxe had 126" wheelbases (one can assume the C300 and the 300B had 126" w/b) The Windsor (1958-60) had a 122" wheelbase while the other models (except Imperial) had a 126" wheelbase. The 1962 Newport, 300 and 300H had 122" w/b while the New Yorker had 126" w/b All 1963, 1964 models had a 122 " w/b (except Imperial) All 1965 models had a 124" w/b (except Imperial) In some cases the 300 was based on the shorter w/b. Maybe other members can be more specific. Hope this helps. It is my understanding that all Chrysler, Desoto. Dodge and perhaps Plymouth are the same from the firewall back (or is this simply for the unitbody system). The front clip therefore determined the wheelbase of the various models. As a youngster growing up as a car nut in the 50's; talk was that the 300's where actually the lighter windsor body (true or false)? According to the '59 parts manual, the frame assembly (1851 062) is the same for Chrysler and Desoto (MS2, MS3, MC2 and MC3)The 300E is MC3 or a New Yorker Club Coupe. Bob Brown, the club's consultant for the '59 model year, may be able to clarify further. Also, I believe it was Larry Jett (510-794-7911) who recently took some photos of the front bumper brackets of a '57 - '59 300. Maybe he can send them to you. Hope this helps.
