Rotella does not have enough zinc in it anymore. I found that out when the cam in my Imperial went flat in 2010, up to that time I only used Rotella in my flat tappet cam engines. I contacted Hughes Engines the manufacturer of my cam and they stated that Rotella has been reformulated to remove the zinc as new diesel's engines all now have catalytic converters and zinc is poison to the converters. I now use Brad Penn oil as it is 100% Pennsylvania crude and has very high levels of ZDDP (zinc), and it is non synthetic. Go to their website and read about their products, they offer a variety of oils for different applications and all are USA made, they do also offer a semi synthetic product. I used their special break in oil in the Imperial engine as Diamond highly recommended that I use it to protect their pistons upon first start up.
