I was told by a guy that worked in the shop that prepared movie cars that only one Charger was used in the filming but numerous Mustangs were totaled in the many jumps. I owned a ’69 Dodge Coronet 500 and it was easily rebuilt after a front-end collision. For those that are following progress on our ’64 ram K convertible, Mr. Jett and I successfully spun the recently acquired and award-winning ram K engine in my parts car coupe today after soaking the cylinders in Marvel Mystery oil and ATF. Several panel idiot lights came on as did the console courtesy lights but there is some current draw with ignition off. We’ll have the improper, but similar 2903S carby’s rebuilt and see if she’ll run. Both carbs are nicely fitted with manual choke brackets. Short rams have been smoothed, part numbers ground off and painted red my previous owner. There is still time to find that pair of 3505S carbs in your spare parts treasure trove. Plugs are Autolite 85’s (no hyphen) with signs of rich combustion/or oil consumption? And, a big shipment of black leather and other interior items from Gary Goers came in today. The body shop has painted the door jambs and the underside of the hood with reformulated Roman Red, as close as possible to the original. More paint will be applied tomorrow. The interior panels on the parts car are in great shape and I believe I can modify the coupe rear panels to work in the convertible by using parts from a set of rear convertible (Sport) panels from “Charlie in Ottawa”. Thanks to Charlie and the many others helping with necessary parts for the convertible. I needed the front carpet inserts and they are there in the parts car—about the only thing keeping driver’s & passengers feet from dragging the ground. All-in-all, a milestone day on the road to restoration.
