[Chrysler300] 300'ly

Once in a great while, a car comes along with such style and performance
that it causes grown men to gasp and young men to dream. Such was the case
with the 1955 Chrysler 300 and its successor 300's.

Similarly, once in a great while a man comes along with such gifts of style
and performance to garner the recognition and praise of his fellow men (and
women). Such a man is our member, consultant and meet host Rob Kern, M.D.
In addition to taking care of spiritual, family and professional duties, he
has seen fit to share some of his time, many gifts and energy in ORGANIZING
meets that provide us the opportunity to share personal perspectives and
technical information while making new friends and deepening old
friendships. Marnie's hand is highly visible as she shares the work and
lovingly supports Rob in every way and son RJ professionally documents our
events while adding his unique persona to the mix.

My thanks to all of the Kerns and to the many others who worked so hard to
make the Golden event a Golden dream meet that will long be remembered.

Those present at the Golden meet are aware that I took possession of a rusty
relic of a 300K coupe there. I thought it would be interesting to the
attendees to display it along with the concours-grade 300's and it actually
finished second in the two-car class headed up by Shanda Epting's beautiful
ram-K Silver Special. Thanks to all who good-naturedly looked over and
through the sorry old coupe as it tried to maintain its dignity. We got the
black K coupe back to California and are considering our options-including
transplanting its 300K ram engine into our 300K ram (originally)
convertible. The coupe is apparently rusted beyond all salvation and is
ready to become an organ donor to our convertible and to others needing
special 300K items. No greater love hath any car than to be stripped of its
vestments and sent to the crusher that other cars might be restored and live
on.
