Steve, The w/strip just pulls out of the S/S mldg you are talking about. This will expose the attatchment screws that are under the w/strip. You really need to remove the w/shields to facilitate installation of the headliner, especially the front one.from what I remember when I did mine. Is the original still in the car? If so, you will see what I mean when you pull it out. Take your time and take notes/pictures. The side window removal will be quite an adventure, again take your time. A few years back, Jim Krausman wrote an article about window installation, maybe it's on the web site tech section. Good luck!! Several questions- Headliner installation- is there a technical manual that explains in more detail the removal of the SS side rails that run from front windshield to bottom of rear window. Can't figure how to remove them or is the headliner installed with them in place. Does the rear window come out? Is there a technical manual for the installation of the front and rear window door mechanisms? Service manual is not to specific. Thanks for your help.
