A popular legend I believe the Sono 6x replaced the 4X later but I have boxed multiples of the original MoPar 4x that are 35 inches long with the correct inlet 2 1/4. 4x is no indication of length or inlet outlet dimensions. I believe that the 300 came out of the factory with OEM plain mufflers so since they are not the OEM muffler anyway I believe either 4x or 6x for a 300C is fine; as long as the dimensions are correct. I have original MoPar catalogs for the 4x with application. It appears to refer to an engineering level or improvement..not the length or application. Perhaps the 6x was catalogued in 1959 succeeding the 4x. . I do not have a 6x MoPar catalogue with the application. Original equipment mufflers on your 300C & D's is a "MoPar Sono 6X" with a body length of 34 inches. The Sono 4X is 29 inches in body length.
