RE: [Chrysler300] Transmission jumps into gear?

Steve,

Make sure the shift cable is correctly adjusted. When in neutral, the shift
lever in the trans must seat in the proper detent.

Steve,

Was the transmission really in gear, or was it in neutral and started
moving forward? Sometimes when the clutch pack clearances are a little too
tight, the car will creep forward while in neutral. You can go through
pulling the clutch packs out and setting a larger clearance, or you might
just find that a little aggressive driving, not overboard mind you, will
take care of this without any teardown. Maybe others have other
experiences though. It happened to me once when I rebuilt one of my
torqueflites, and that is what I did to take care of it. Since then, I do
not set the very minimum limit clearance, but slightly larger using an
assortment of retaining rings.
Good luck,
Steve Albu
