Re: [Chrysler300] Using Dextron 5 in an Aluminum Torqueflight

I also used Dexron many years ago. I switched
to Type F at the advice of Chrysler performance
publications in the late 60s and have never gone
back unless in an emergency. I have used it
exclusively in over a dozen different
transmissions over the years, some mundane and
some were raced, all were dependable. I would
use it again if type F wasn't available.

One question I would have, is todays Dexron III
the same as the Dexron of yesteryear? I would
have the same concerns about modern Dexron as I
would about ATF-4 with high detergents and
friction modifiers. I also have concerns about
the type F transmission fluids that are out
there. I don't find them in name brands, but in
Walmart or Advanced Auto, etc. brands. I wonder
where they are manufactured and who actually is
actively involved in ensuring they still meet the
standards they were designed to meet.

Just a recounting of my personal experience, no specialized knowledge here.
