Hi Keith, I checked the measurements of the two Mufflers, Sono 6X and Sono 4X again this morning. The height on yesterdays measurement was off by about ½ inch, I entered up the wrong figure from my notes. The height for the Sono 6X at the end seam is 3 7/8? and the Sono 4X is 3 ¾?. Width for the Sono 6X is 8 1/8? to 8 3/16? and the Sono 4X is 8 1/8? to 8 ¼? measured at the seam and middle. Thanks for checking. Here's my note to Dave yesterday: "OK, here we go, Dave. I don't know what you call the end crimping material, but the measurements here include that. The length is 34.25" and the end oval is 4.25" X 8.00". The inlet pipe is 2.25" in the center of the oval, and the 2" outlet is off center outboard. I forgot to measure how far offset from center the outlet is, but I can easily go back and get that dimension for you if you need it." I see Waldron's length is nearly the same, and the width fairly close, but the height is a whole 1" fatter on the Waldron. Are we sure about the 3.25" height for a Sono 6X? The muffler was purchased from Chrysler in the 1960's. The original 300C mufflers were "MoPar Sono 6X" shown in raised relief. Other Chryslers models in 1957 used "Mopar Sono 4X" which have a body length of 29 inches. The "Sono 6X" has a Body length 34 inches, width 8 3/8 inches, height 3 1/4 inches. Inlet pipe 2 1/4 inches and outlet pipe 2 inches. Length of inlet pipe 2 inches, length outlet pipe 2 3/4 inches. I would be interested in hearing from Keith Boonstra and Bob Merritt how the Waldron's mufflers compare to the originals. Does Waldron's make a 34 inch muffler? Or only the 29 inch (Sono 4X) In a posting to this Club, 7/23/10, Marv Raguse who has both a 300 C & D, says he worked with Joe Tonietto of Waldron's and stated that he has the "Mopar Sono 4X" which was originally thought to be for 300C's. Wayne Graefen's 1957 Chrysler 300C Handbook originally listed the "MoPar Sono 4X", but he changed it to the correct "MoPar Sono 6X" as shown in his 6th Edition. I have a set of theirs on my C, and couldn't be more pleased. Perhaps the shipping cost to the UK would be prohibitive, and thus you need to have them manufactured there. If so, one of us here in the States can give you the dimensions you're looking for. What's the word? Waldron's or the specs? I need the length, width and depth of the muffler and also the internal diameter of the inlet pipe. I have found a shop local to Me to make the system in stainless and they have already done the front and tail pipes from pattern but when I got the car the mufflers had rusted away long ago. Thanks Dave. 300D in the UK.
