Bob, before you go that route you might consider this. I have a '52 Chrysler Hemi with 6V that has performed flawlessly for almost 4 years with these steps taken: Two 6V Optima batteries connected in parallel. (The two fit neatly in the battery tray.) A rebuilt starter motor. The original generator recored to be an alternator by Don's Genernator in OR. Should anyone use Don, for originality, be sure to say you want the generator to look original, with all original tags left on, and not to put his sticker in sight.
