My friend, fellow Iowa Boy, fellow 300K owner and fellow club member, John Holst, has created a 300K website http://www.jholst.net whereon he has posted posted pdf?s of the documents listed below. To access the list from the home page, click on ?Dust to Dust?. At the ?1964 Chrysler Options/Interior/etc? section all options are listed, including tires. It indicates 8.00 X 14 BSW Rayon tires were standard on 300K?s with the standard single 4-bbl 413 K engine. 8.50 X 14?s were standard on the ram-engined K?s and on standard K?s with a/c. 9.00x14 tires were available on all ?64 Chryslers. 1-1/16? WSW?s were available on all tire sizes. John?s site is well structured, interesting and highly relevant. He spent a lot of time scanning in the pages and it is a readily accessible and useful site for K owners. John owns a K his father bought new. Thanks to John for making his work available to us all. It seems worthy of a link at our club website. Tractor and tire guru Edward Mills indicates below that if the tires were Goodyears, they would all have been ?Custom Super Cushion Rayon which were still available in 4-ply in the larger sizes or 4-ply rating (2-ply).? Thanks to Ed for sharing his knowledge, experience and data bank with us. I have an inquiry out on the tires and have heard nothing to the contrary. I was wondering if the K?s might have been equipped with some special grade of racing tire like the Blue Streaks in 1964, but apparently not. Isn?t the 300K capable of 130-140+ MPH top speed? Seems like the Custom Super Cushion Rayon?s were either overkill on the Newport?s or marginal on the K?s. As an aside, I actually have two 8.00X15 Goodyear Blue Streaks with narrow WSW?s and have been unable to determine what car or cars they might have been standard on. These narrow WSW tires don?t appear on the list at the club?s website as coming standard on 300?s, but perhaps the 8.00?s were an optional tire to the 7.60?s of 1962 and 1963. The Blue Streaks are knee deep in rubber, in excellent shape, surplus to my needs and available to an interested and unbiased operator. The 300G went to 8.00-15 with 8.20-15 optional and the 300H and 300J had 7.60-15 6 ply. It appears that the 300K shows standard 8.50-14 4ply and the 300L shows 8.55-14 with 8.85-14 optional. As of January 1 1964 Goodyear Price Lists, the Blue Streak (equipped with sidewall valve for optional use with "Captive-air steel-cord safety shield") was only made in 3 sizes - 9.00-14 ($100.65 list price), 7.60-15 ($94.45), and 8.00-15 ($100.65). All were narrow white, 3T Nylon cord - plies not specified. 8.50-14 OE Tires listed by Goodyear were Custom Super Cushion Rayon which were still available in 4-ply in the larger sizes or 4-ply rating (2-ply).
