Re: [Chrysler300] Chrysler Corp blower motors article

Keith and all;
I haven't seen the article, but I've found that almost any fan motor I ever needed I could get at my Auto Parts Store.
This is one of those items that is usually off the shelf when they design. No sense reinventing the wheel.They just pick one that will fit where they want it and use it.
Take you old one to the store and, in my case they had a replacement in stock.
If it's hidden under the dash it dosen't matter, and if it shows on the firewall, black is black for the most part.
Better new than old used just for correctness.

This also applies to roller and ball bearings. The industry designs bearings and the auto mfgs. design to what's available, in most cases.
They have numbers on them and you can ask at the counter for that number. If not in stock, they can have it the next day.; The numbers are on the bearings and races and with today's mfg. precision, you can mix and match. You don't have to buy in sets and don't have to be told "we don't go back that far"when you ask for a specific year/model part.

Hope this helps, Ray

There is a good article in your November 2011 Hemmings on the fan motors used by Chrysler in the various A/C and non-A/C cars. According to the the piece written by Jim O'Clair, in the 25 years from 1955 through 1979 Chrysler only used 16 different fan motors. He goes on to list all the various cars and years that used interchangeable motors, so if you need one from a parts car this should help you find one that works for you. Interesting.
