RE: [Chrysler300] George Laurie rewsponders

Paul:

Unless your lenses are broken, the weathering might be removed by using two
Meguiar's products-one a very light rubbing compound (Meguiar's mirror
glaze clear plastic cleaner No. 17) and the other just polish (Meguiar's
Clear Plastic Polish No. 10). Those old lenses are an important and
attractive design element with character (and ChryCo part numbers)-don't
throw them away unless they are badly cracked and have missing chunks.
Under the lens is another problem-reflectors with the original silver
reflectors long gone. I used shiny aluminum racer's tape to cover the dull
reflective surfaces in the taillights of our '55 C-300 for a quick fix.
Now, if someone would produce a bright white 6V combination tail/turn signal
LED bulb that wouldn't look too hinky, that would be a boon-front & rear.

You say stay happy and that's a good thought. Ya gotta ask yourself if
you're gonna be happier laying out $225 for a new pair of lenses or putting
in a little elbow grease to restore the old lenses. Mr. Laurie is also
referred to as "De Soto George". I understand the quality of his products
is great while the timeliness of his response is sometimes less so. Best
wishes in any case. He also has front parking light lenses, map light lens,
license plate lens and courtesy/dome light lenses (rear quarter). I trust
you've been guided to an informational website:

Many thanks to all of you who responded to my query about George Laurie. I
had never before encountered
him or his lens service. I'm still trying to re-establish contact with him,
still with hopes of acquiring the delta set up.
I also need to replace some weathered lenses on my 55 and have finally
learned of a source.

Again, thanks to you all!!

Be well,
Stay happy

Paul
