RE: [Chrysler300] 300J heads - correct #s ?

The collective knowledge plugged into this server is always impressive.
Thanks to all for the "heads" up!

To err is human and the great majority of you pluggers do forgive the
unintentional and well-meaning errors.

I assume the added bolts were to reduce oil leaking from under the valve
covers. Reduced bolts appears to be a typical automotive mfr's cost saving
move. Two bolts at two cents each times 500,000 heads= $10,000.

Oops! Sorry, begging forgiveness! Brain malfunction.

The J had 4 bolt valve covers which was the last year for 4 bolt covers.
They have the "ears" on each end of the valve covers but are not drilled.
The heads do not have the "extensions" for the other two studs on the lower
front and rear. This per George Riehl as stated in a 2009 email. The K
started with 6 bolt covers: I assume the ram K did as well then.

I didn't know the J had 6 bolt valve covers; what year did they make that
change?

Yes. Ram K heads same as the J. The whole engine is same as the J, except
the distributor model number (but advance curves are the same) and the C300K
stamp on the block.

They don't list '64 300K ram-engine heads. Would they be the same as the J
heads?

Group

I'm looking at a 300J engine. I need to know the # for the correct 300J
heads. Anyone have that # reasonably handy?

I did check the website first, but didn't find head #s listed. Did I miss a
page?

THANKS

Jeff Miklas
