On occasion (more often than I want) the ammeter will peg itself at maximum charge. I can fix the problem by raising the hood and tapping on the voltage regulator with the handle of a screwdriver, and things return to normal. Since these regulators are getting hard to find, I would rather fix than replace. Clearly something inside is sticking. Does anybody out there have an idea as to which set of points might be sticking, and what I might do to rectify this problem?
