Re: [Chrysler300] Mystery Part? X5

Hi John & All,

John Nowosacki may have come closer than anyone yet in identifying the blue
header mystery parts. He suggests below that the rare 1962=H had blue short
crossrams. Could these be a set of matching blue cast iron headers?

Does anyone know if the 1962 short rams were exhaust or water heated?

Here is a quote from the web:

³There was a short ram version of the long rams. Externally these looked
pretty much the same as the long rams, but a few inches of the internal
divider wall was cut away. The short rams were tuned for high rpm and were
rated at 400 horsepower in 1960 and 1961. 1962 versions were rated at 405
horsepower. Hot Rod Magazine got a 405 horse 62 300H, tuned it a bit, added
headers, and installed 4.56 gears. Ran high 12's at almost 108. This is with
street tires. They took it to the 1962 Winternationals and were runner-up in
the Super Stock Automatic class. This was just a few months before the 413
Max Wedge was created and offered in B body 62 Dodges and Plymouths. If
you're interested in the 405 horse 300H, you can read about it in the June
1962 issue of Hot Rod; probably can get one off eBay.²

Thanks,
Tony

I have seen one 405hp 62 300H, and the crossrams on top were blue, not red,
but I don't recall looking at the headers.  Might these be headers for that
application?  I don't think the H had water heated carbs.
