I am told by my mechanic that new diesel oil has had to limit the Zinc also so I think the best result would be to use an oil which can certify that it still contains ZDDP. This is like the old discussion about led additive; And there are probably still 80% of the old cars without hardened seats and no led gas still running well. That being said it is still possible to find an oil which contains ZDDP even if it is the old single weight SEA 30. This is what our cars grew up on after all..... Do diesel engines use flat tappets or roller type? Seems like the answer to that would help decide the correct oil for us. Personally, I have used Castrol diesel oil in the 300F since the first change. So far, so good with six meets under its tires. 300ly, Gil Cunningham Yet another perfect day in Tally-town, FL In a message dated 11/13/2010 8:22:25 P.M.
