Way to hang in there, Brandt! I and, I’m sure, many others have enjoyed following your pursuit of restoring Melissa to her former health & beauty. And the input, hints and support from so many on this server was also impressive. Enjoy the ride and keep us posted from time to time. Hello Bill & all! Well, before several months ago, Melissa was down and out with motor that had to be rebuilt. It was a broken land ring due to detonation. The first 'tryouts' were fine but the exhaust gaskets started to leak (but not right away) because of warped manifold surfaces. A nice machining took care of that. Before all that though I tried to succesfully replace all exhaust gaskets and I did but I must not have torqued them down right (ugh)! When I started her up (before the machining of manifold), I was still plagued by immediate exhaust leak(s) and to boot, the engine would rev high then die because I messed up the intake manifold gasket when I needed to unbolt manifold from cylinders 2,4,6, and 8, in order to raise intake up far enough to get the exhaust manifold out!! The reving, then the dying was caused by the sucking of air. Now, after all that was fixed it was time for new brakes which I installed centric shoes myself. I had to do some adjusting and actually put the return springs on correctly so I would have drum clearance (they were scraping return springs before). Now I had no more brake issues and the shoes that I purchased on Ebay were beautiful. I had firm brake pressure and whatever I had stopped me like they were asbestos even though they're not. The same day I was breaking in my shoes, my rear end goes out!! Yes, it was my ring gear (one tooth missing) so I got a posi (still 3.23:1), from Jeff Carter. Boy does it work fantastic but now this time I have exhaust pipe issues rubbing on frame, as I explained in my prior emails but now I am GOOD TO GO!!!! CHEERS! ;-D 300ly to all, Brandt Jimerson in So. Problem was solved within under an hour of labor. My total was $75.00 only. He cut out a section that someone put in that was intentionally crooked and it should NOT have been. He spent most of the time troubleshooting the very rear bracket on passenger side. Well...finally!!! Melissa pins me to the seat while floored going around corner! She is extremely breathtaking too with her posi! No more grinding and rattles with the exhaust! Absolutely no pulling to left or right! No exhaust leaks! No overheating and so on!! Thank you to all that helped me with the suggestions! This club is really special!! Sincerely & 300ly, Brandt H J w/ a G that I can finally enjoy!
