Andy, I too, have long been a proponent of maintaining the original brakes in my G. In fact I just did a brake bleed and adjustment in July and checked everything out to make sure they were the best they can be. The best in this case is only fair I am sorry to say. What really got to me was when my 17 year old daughter and I were on a fun local ride 3 months ago, top down, iPod playing, and I approached a stop sign and she says, Dad, I'm concerned about the brakes in your car. Now, I'm driving, not her, and she is noticing how the car will slightly pull to one side or the other until the brake pedal is pushed enough to apply evenly and that they sometimes have a tendency to squeak. Now I just explained to her it was normal and not to be concerned, but I couldn't get her comments out of my mind. Taking your wife, daughter or loved one for a ride in a 300G, is meant to be an enjoyable experience, not an occasion for concern on the part of the passenger. There simply is NOTHING I can do to further improve the factory brake setup on my car. I have done it all, and it simply is not good enough anymore. If the lawyers (or your insurance carriers) do a quick web search of your name, the listserver (and/or tech) archives will show you admit you altered your braking system. Right there for all the world to see. In perpetuity. Good luck with that. The 300G recorded 60 mph to 0 in 131 feet in the April 1961 issue of Motor Life. Why bother? Make your car work right. Adjust your driving style accordingly.
