Re: [Chrysler300] Electric Fuel Pump

Hi Rob,

I wasn't aware John has these, I would have included him. Some of our
members have many parts we don't know of. Thanks for the post. Members, please
post your wares. Thanks.

Hello 300'ly to all!
John Lazenby has a great auxilliary electric fuel pump at discounted
price for club members (I paid $39.95 a few years ago). I mounted it to the
frame just forward of the passenger side rear wheel opening on a rubber
insulating pad with a fabricated metal stone shield in-line with the fuel
line. I trigger it with a toggle switch mounted under the dash next to the
power antennae toggle switch. It only runs with the ignition in the "on"
position. If the car has been sitting greater than 72 hours, I turn on the pump
until the clicking noise subsides (about 10 secs.) and then start the car
with minimal cranking and then shut the pump off. It has never let me down
no matter what the outside ambient temperature. I suggest you contact John
Lazenby 714-943-0644 after 8:00 am PST. Rob Kern

J C Whitney.com _www.jcwhitney.com_ (_http://www.jcwhitney.com_
(http://www.jcwhitney.com/) ) has
universal electric fuel pumps in the pressure/volume you need for about $
50.
Check with your local parts house, also.

If I remember correctly I think John Hertog used an inline electric pump
that was oem on an early 80's Subaru which was carbureted. I'll have to
do
a little research

High pressure pumps (which at the moment are the largest supply due to
modern fuel injection cars) require a pressure regulator and a by-pass
and/or
a supply back to the tank. This makes them and the use of a full time
pump
on our old cars with carbs (especially twin 4V carbs.) very risky. A
proper
5-6 # old type pump, if still available, are very expensive.

Anyone have a part number? Should I assume you've all chosen a low
pressure

pump of some type since there's no regulator? I've got a high press pump
on my Fueli K which I'd be afraid to put behind carbs... I think anything
more than 5-6 psi would blow the needles off their seats and overfill the
carbs
