Re: [Chrysler300] Overheating Issues

You are definately on the right path by replacing the radiator. There have been improvements in technology. But, your old core should work just fine with a boil, rod and repair (or at least it would have 20 yrs ago). BUT, the thing will, and very likely absolutely, not survive a boil, rod and repair job. So, that should not be tried. Metal forming the tubes is too old and brittle or simply not there anymore.

A 180deg thermostat I have found to be satisfactory for a carbureted engine and no emissions controls. The 160deg calibration will contribute to crankcase sludging with short tripping. Engine will not stay off 'hot' with a 160deg stat any better than it will a 180deg stat in my experiences. And, no stat at all and the things will overheat.

Thermal and NOT a torque limiting fan clutch must be used and a fan shroud.
