For future reference, never replace your original alternator, generator, or starter unless they are physically destroyed. The primary reason is that it fits your car and is hopefully the original piece. Find a REPUTABLE (someone rebuilt your "six month unit") re builder in your area, a place where you can carry them into and watch while they test the unit. Many times there is no problem with it so the problem is elsewhere. Good to know before you start throwing expensive parts at it. The bearings in the alternator on my G were noisy so I took it in. It produced 60 amps as is. The rotor had already been replaced with a higher capacity version so I had them put in the corresponding stator. It now produces 90 amps. New bearings, brushes, pulley, stator, and labor was $84. I use: Red's Auto Electric 625 E.
