Folks, Many years ago, when the 1968 Chrysler New Yorker that I own was less than a year old, my Granddad had hauled way too much heavy stuff in the trunk to Florida and back. The springs sagged. The dealership had them pulled and rearched and retempered. That worked for maybe two years. When I took possession in 1971 after Granddad died, I tried putting "load levelers" under it. Being active military it moved a lot of my personal belongings from post to post. Finally, in about 1984 I put new springs under it. Moving the same relatively heavy personal belongings over the next years did nothing to sag the new springs. This is anecdotal. There also is no way to empirically state the loading was the same. Howeve, I feel that re arched and retempered springs are not going to last. If new is available, that is the only way to go as far as I can see. They work great and "leveled out" the rear of my car. The Eaton springs are not exact copies of the originals but few will ever know the difference. Had I known at the time, I could have had the original springs re-tempered at a local shop for about the same cost.
