The other product that works good for restoring color in faded carpet is fabric spray dye that comes in rattle cans. I've used black and red, and it works quite good. Not sure where to get it but I have bought it at places that sell vinyl spray dyes, they are usually displayed together. The stuff I have here is Fabspray by Zynolyte, but they are old cans, so I don't know if it is still called that. Check with auto body paint suppliers, paint and hardware stores. Cleaned before applying, poured on rag and rubbed into the carpet and let dry. Most fabric shops carry it. Years ago, Wal-Mart carried it. Use household rubber gloves, then throw them away. If getting on hands, will take a month to come off. Been there, done that. At the present the seats are out and he has been recovering them. This brought the carpet into full view. While it's overall in good shape, it does have some fading in some areas. He's wants to dye the faded areas so it looks good. I checked with a store I frequent but their dye is for natural animal fibers and not the kinds found in cars. But Jyl suggested a search for auto dye on the internet. Well, that leaves things a little too wide open so I'm hoping to narrow it down by asking you motor heads for help. Do any of you have any suggestions for good places to purchase dye for our old dolls? Thanks in advance for your time.
