Hi Tom, I purchased Roland Funk's 300F from a relative of his. Roland also owned Steve Albu's 300F, now the benchmark car, on the website. He was a long time member of the west coast club. His black F was a very original car, with one show repaint & an engine rebuild, when I took possession. The insert was clearly black anodized. The car is now owned by club member Jim Pinto. I have seen restored cars by club members with painted inserts, they think it's right. I have been around cars all my life, it is clearly black anodized. What I am confused about is the black grill insert. I have a grill insert but because I don't have my grill surround (it is being chrome plated), I don't know if the black grill insert that attaches to the grill surround is for an F or a G. Secondly, should this black grill insert be anodized or painted. Sorry for the confusion on my part. _____ From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of tdcox@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2009 8:10 PM To: chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [Chrysler300] F Grill and Door Sill Plates 1. My Grill shell is being chrome plated (so I don't have it handy to fit the grill into it) and I am trying to figure out if the grill I have is for a G or an F; I assume they are different, other than the shorter side up or down. Can someone send me a picture of a grill and tell me if it is from an F or a G? Or is there an easy way to tell which one I have? If my grill is for a G, I am in big trouble! 2. Should the grill (assuming I have the correct one) be anodized black for an F or is it painted? If painted, is it a satin finish? 3. I plan to send off the sill plates for anodizing. I fitted them to the body and realize there must be a steel plate that attaches to the body underneath the sill plates; I believe the plate also holds the carpet in place on each side. Can anyone tell me the thickness of the steel plate and the dimensions? Thanks for your help.
