[Chrysler300] Winter Storage

Hi Mark:
    I always put a tarp (preferred doubled) underneath my 300's to prevent any moisture from the ground below(concrete same thing) to affect the underside of the car and especially the engine compartment. I've seen a freshly restored car parked over the winter on what was thought to be dry concrete in an enclosed garage but in the spring all of the accessories such as the alternator, etc had turned kind of whitish powderey color and has lost their shinny finish. I would especially recommend the tarp thing especially when parking your restored 300 on top of dirt or gravel even more so.  
    Another thing, is to always leave the negative post disconnected off the battery. My theory is that without any electrical hooked up, it eliminates any chance of electrical fire in case of some mysterious short. If you make sure that your battery is fully charged when parking the car for winter storage, you'll find that the battery will still be sufficient to start the car in the spring as there was no electrical load on it all winter...not even a clock.

I'm also faced with the necessity of storing my 64 300 outside. The barn across the street, where I stored my car in the past is being torn down to make room for houses. While my 300H stays in a nice warm garage?at the house, the 64 will have to be kept outside for the winter months (unless there's a buyer out there). I need to store the car on my patio, which is a concrete slab. I have a good cover for it but I'm wondering if I should?add a tarp over the cover or let it breathe? There will probably be times when it will be covered with a few inches of snow, and of course, it will get wet and that moisture will most likely freeze on it overnight. What would you do?
