A Dynaflow is definitely enhanced by using the low to start off. I don't know much about the Hydramatics of that era, but believe they started out in low when put in the "Drive" position. ----gil In a message dated 10/29/2008 9:52:29 P.M. Perhaps a Hydramatic or a Dynaflow would perform better if in Low or Super??? It's been years since I've driven a Torqueflite car, but I recall punching "2" altered the shift points and enhanced performance, also. I also recall reading that the optimum drag race procedure for a PowerFlite car was to start in "D", shift to "L" after launch and then shift to "D" again just before the valves float. Enjoyed those. I wonder what General Motors came up with as a "rebuttal"? Not much I would imagine. In 1958 GM----at least Buick----would have had the advantage in the brake fade test with their finned aluminum drums. It is too bad Chrysler did not have the plant capacity and the quality in 1957. They were so superior in all other product aspects they could probably have regained #2 and maybe in a few years....who knows? 300ly, Gil C. In a message dated 10/29/2008 1:25:11 P.M.
