Are you checking the spark by manually opening the points individually or by cranking the engine? I believe there is an overlap in the points position so that one is responsible for opening and the other for closing the circuit. Cranking may not show a spark at both. Unless you are using one of the old Mallory 4 lobe distributors either set of points should run the engine just fine. You might have to block one set of point open to check the other set. Grounds spring to mind, make sure the coil has a good ground and make sure the distributor has a good ground. I usually make sure the clamp has bare metal under the clamping area and that the bolt head has bare metal under it. There is a flexible wire that connect the points under the breaker plate, it sometimes breaks or shorts. Check the wire from the coil negative for continuity. That's all that springs to mind at this time. Of course, easiest of all is to try a known good distributor, but that isn't always possible.
