Jimmy and all, I experienced the same situation when I built my 300H, over five years ago. It's a little fuzzy now but this is how I remember it. There is a valve body on top of the gearbox. It's the thingy with the hoses attached to it. There are two bolts that fasten it to the gearbox. Between the valve body and the gearbox there are some rubber o-rings. There is a?pivot lever or valve actuating lever?from in the gearbox that protrudes into the valve body and is somehow affected by the proper location of the valve body. To fix your problem, slightly loosen the two bolts with the engine OFF. With the bolts loose, you can slide the valve body forward (down) or backward (up)?to make the adjustment. Looking at my FSM on page 19-26, it says "If the torque is greater to the right, move the control valve body down. If the torque is greater to the left, move the valve body up. After positioning the valve to obtain equal torque, tighten the valve body attaching screws (bolts) to 15 foot-pounds torque to maintain this setting." If you loosen the bolts with the engine running, you will get a shower of PS fluid as it blows those little o-rings into the next county! Tighten up the bolts and fire up the engine and check the steering operation. This will probably require a few trials to get it right. When I went through this process, I raised the front wheels up so that the tires were just off the floor so that I could see that the wheels were perfectly still after making the adjustment. Hope this helps. Good luck, and?keep us posted on your progress. My son had a rebuilt one for his 66 300 so I used that one. When I put it in and started the car the steering wheel spun itself to the left. Thinking the box had sat too long and a valve was stuck, I ordered a new one. When I put the new one in it once again shot to the left and then after about 5 min of running shot to the right. It still does it but not as bad. If I hit the gas it will turn about a quarter turn to the right each time and when driving if I take my hand off the wheel it will shoot to the right. How can I fix this? Is their air in the box and if so how do I get rid of it? All help would be appreciated.
