Hi all, With all this discussion about cowl vents, no one has addressed a question I have. On my 1960 New Yorker the cowl vent is aluminum. However it has weathered to the point where it looks like galvanized sheet metal. Removing it and looking at protected areas it is apparent that it once had a chrome like finish. Do your vents have a shiny chrome like finish or are they duller like one would expect from aluminum? It seems to me that the chrome finish would cause a problem with reflections when driving into the sun. I will probably paint mine body color rather than trying to get it shiny again.
