The main answer person at D-A Lubricant had this to say to the same question -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Holmgren: You are correct in your comments and assessment of the issues surrounding zinc levels in automotive engine oils, as they pertain to older vehicles with sliding tappet type followers. There has been some evidence that lower zinc antiwear additive levels may have contributed to cam lobe damage and failure. There is an oil available from the Central Indiana chapter of the Classic Car Club of America that contains suffient zinc to protect camshaft components. It is designed specifically for antique, classic and other vintage engines with sliding tappet followers. It is an SAE 15W40 oil that can be ordered by calling Helen Vogle at 317-446-7634 or 317-257-6601. Thank you. Steve Waggoner QMS / Technical Manager D-A Lubricant Company --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I understand it, the oil product mentioned is made by D-A for the CCCA here. -- Paul Holmgren 2 57 300-C's in Indy Hoosier Corps #L6 A generation which ignores historyhas no past -- and no future. - RobertA.
