The 42030 Wix filter that I currently have sitting in front of me is 3 5/8" tall. All other dimensions are the same as the Mopar #1852569. The 42030 will correctly fit the 300C 's "off the side" football shaped air filter housing, which uses a "lid" to cover the filter as it sits in the housing. I t also correctly fits certain model Piper Cherokee airplanes, which is probably why you can still find them available. I don't know if Gary has found a supplier somewhere for the #1852569, but the Wix (NAPA) 42030 is taller than the original filter. It will work on a '58, but the filter "peeks" out the bottom of the filter cover, and on some aftermarket 2-4bbl installations, hood clearance may be a problem, or the carburetor air filter mounting studs must be run "up" so enough thread will be available for the wing nut. I used a set of these Wix 2030's as they were numbered back in the late Sixties, on an aluminum two-four set-up on my '59 Plymouth Fury; had to run the stud up and a punk knot in the hood was the result. dennis cloer ----- Original Message ----- From: nicholasadamo@xxxxxxx To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2008 7:54 PM Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Re: Oval Air Filters OK, Fern. Hmmm, well sorry if I led anyone astray with this! Thought I was being helpful. Would there be anything wrong with running those WIX fitlers if they are the proper oval shape but an inch or so too tall?? As long as they'd fit under the hood....... -----Original Message----- From: Fern Rivard <crc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; nicholasadamo@xxxxxxx Sent: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 7:49 pm Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Re: Oval Air Filters I'm pretty sure about that as I live close to Gary and recall him showing me those filters. He was waiting for more stock at the time or else I would have bought some spares from him. I will check with him next that I'm out in Kalispell Montana. Only way to be sure is to ask Gary or for someone to buy the WIX filter and check it. -----Original Message----- From: Rich Barber <c300@xxxxxxx> To: nicholasadamo@xxxxxxx; Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 7:33 pm Subject: RE: [Chrysler300] Re: Oval Air Filters Is it possible that Gary Goers modified the original WIX filter and remarketed it? They DO fit in the gold oval air cleaners on my car....I have the intake set up from a 300 H that was installed on my 67 300 by the selling dealer.? I just received a pair from Gary. My car is not here at the moment. BUT two years ago, I placed the same order with Gary and the filters fit fine. They have a WIX part number on them....42030. I'll go downstairs in a minute and measure the dimensions. I can't possibly understand why they would not fit on the 58, 59 and 62 413 Chrysler 300's. I'll post again in a minute with the dimensions...... -----Original Message----- From: MARCIA H CLOER <skyhawk@xxxxxxxxx> To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; James <jdelrae1@xxxxxxx>; Gloria Moon <agmoon@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 5:37 pm Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Re: Oval Air Filters Mopar Part # 1852569 is the correct air filter for 58-59-62 413 engines with 2-4 barrel in-line carburetors. It is 2.5 inches high, approx. 11 inches in length, and 6.5 inches wide. According to a website I stumbled on, a filter company in Izmir, Turkey has it listed in their competitor interchange as BF 456 H, for application in Chrysler products. But the picture I clicked on shows a filter that is square, not oval, and shaped more like a furnace filter, only smaller. Given the errors in translation on the page, they may have just put the wrong picture in.
