I think that the starters are different. I believe that 1959, 1960 and 1961 starters are the same. 
The starters are different in 1962 and That same 1962 starter is used for many many years and is much more common and easier to find. Much lower price too
Again all of this is what I Think I know...don't take my word on it.

The starter I found online for 167.00 plus a 50.00 core  was thru Advance Auto. If the starters for 59,60,61 were only used in those years, they might be very rare and hard to find and thats why the higher price. 

I did look in the Yellow pages and called a rebuilder and he says he has something old for Chrysler on the shelf and is looking into what it's for. He said he'll call me back when he finds out.
