freeing up a [Chrysler300] hood bumper!?

Heat (as in welll aimed/adjusted oxy flame) will burn paint - so if enough of stud sticking up, get a fairly small hammer, and give the sticking up broken stud heaps of sharp hard hits/bashes - however do not hit stud with a hammer large enough to bend panel/steel that holds it. But hammer needs be just heavy enough to 'shock' the stud.

Also first soak wet back of stud/captive nut with lubricant. If enough stud sticking up, then try vice grips on it as try to turn, but do not try hard enough to break stud again if it not free. Instead bash/hit again until it frees - maybe hitting 20-30 times each attempt.

The shock of hammering should/will break the rust that seizes it.

Failing it freeing - centre punch stud, and drill it out enough to cut new thread in it. Other side bumper - slip rubber cap off it, hit same as other side until it hopefully frees up.

Christopher in Australia where still using my 1st 300C - I noticed speedo rolled over 67776 (1st or how many times I know not?!) as I got home other night however in now over 68,000 - voted for new govt last night - came back out from voting room set up in 50s school and realised as I walked the 50 metres back to the side on 300C in car park, that not only did it look so cool/great there in the dusk light, but also that it was likely/certainly the only (genuine original) 300C being used to vote in in the country.
Getting lots of praise from commuters in daily traffic - they just love it, but have not got a clue what it is - 60mph cruise takes just above idle throttle for that 392 hemi on 235 15 radials. Went to a friend's birthday bash at one of towns better pubs today - does 350 meals a sitting, large open air beer garden, popular with good looking babes/chicks, and got huge cheer/response from youngies seeing it as I left car park about 5pm

Guy's , I need a fix solution. One of the hood bumpers has been broken off, on the 64.now it is a stud that needs to come out. The other is also frozen in time. The panel was re-painted and installed. Both bumpers were to high for the hood to latch. They both should have been loosened prior to re-paint. Too late for that. Have any other 64 owners encountered this dilemma? Dave ---------------------------------Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Yahoo Mobile.
