I learned two things recently. 1) if you work under a dashboard your IQ immediately drops in half. 2) the lamps over the transmission buttons and the heater buttons are connected to the dimming rheostat of the headlight switch. I had a transmission push button lamp that did not light. I found a broken lamp (#1816) and replaced it. It still did not light. Neither did the heater lamp. The key switch lamp did light and that threw me off (see note 1). Eventually I learned the key switch is not on the dimming circuit but the transmission and heater lamps are. I removed the headlight switch and found the dimming rheostat was toast. A replacement switch solved the problem, although to replace the switch I had to work under the dashboard again. I wonder, if you work under a dashboard twice, does your IQ...........?
