Re: [Chrysler300] 1960 Battery Hold-down Question

Hi Mike and All:
I'm kind of late addressing your question, so if you already have been
answered, bear with me. The battery left side (fender inner side) hold down is a
threaded rod, 5/16' dia. with the lower couple inches flattened and
incorporating two holes. The rod is directly attached to the fender inner with two
1/4-20 X 5/8 tapping screws which have 3/8" hex-flanged heads. They are cad
plated, but the rod on the 1960 cars is the dark grey phosphate finish. (On
the 300H, this rod and its attachment screws are painted body color with the
rest of the car.) I think that is also the case with the 300G, but I will
defer to someone with a G on that one. I am not familier with the Atlas product,
but the correct "clamp down" bracket is the one with only 2 right angle
bends, not the later style with the angles. As far as I can tell, the hold down
wing nuts and washers are natural. Hope this helps.
300ly, Gil

A  battery hold-down set for 1960--> Chrysler C-bodies, I believe, is
available from Atlas Obsolete Auto Parts on eBay. It is a repro set, it appears.
The set includes the battery bracket, the right side threaded rod, and two wing
nuts.

My "F" came (to me) with a smaller diameter rod and wingnut on the left side
of the battery, but this wasn't connected to anything. There are a couple of
holes in the fender apron in the appropriate location -- I'm thinking for a
bracket of some sort to which the left side rod could be hooked to. Or...

My question is: can anyone fill me in on how the left side of the hold-down
bracket is anchored to the body, and who might have the necessary
(what-ever-they-are) parts?

Thanks.
