If you are really concerned about authenticity, carry your lead-acid  battery 
in the trunk, and install it when  you get to a show.  Unless  you can 
guarantee your voltage regulator, you always stand a chance of boiling a  cell.  
Much easier to just swap batteries at a show if it means that  much to you.
